What are Vaseline Uses?
Suddenly ran out of moisturizer? Don’t stress out. You can use your trusty Vaseline petroleum jelly as a substitute until you can get your moisturizer. You can also use your Vaseline to remove make-up plus a hundred other things.
On the label, you will see that Vaseline is recommended for minor burns and cuts but these don’t do this product justice because there are plenty of other uses for Vaseline that are not listed on the product’s information label.
Uses for Vaseline
Vaseline can be used for personal, household, and medical care. This all-around product is actually great for a myriad of applications and a lot of people make sure to have this in the house, in the car, and even in the office drawer.
Vaseline for Personal Care
Apart from using Vaseline as a moisturizer substitute and make-up remover, you can also use this to relieve chapped lips. Petroleum jelly is the more affordable way of making sure that your chapped lips are healed and that they won’t make an appearance again anytime soon.
For Chapped, Dry Skin
If you’ve got dry hands and feet, you can use Vaseline to moisturize these as well. If the jelly is a bit oily and uncomfortable for you, you can apply a liberal amount on your hands and feet in the evenings just before going to bed.
This way, you won’t have to go around with jelly-covered hands during the day – which could be quite uncomfortable as you go about your daily routine.
Also, to keep the moisture in, it is recommended that you cover your feet with socks after you apply Vaseline. This will make your feet softer and smoother.
While you’re at it, apply Vaseline as well on your elbows and knees to make them smoother.
For Personal Grooming
Do you want glossy lips? Apply a small amount of Vaseline on your lips after you’ve put on your lipstick. This will give your lips a glossy look and feel.
Before dyeing your hair, apply Vaseline on your hairline to prevent your skin from being stained with your hair dye.
For Babies
If you are giving your baby a bath, put a little coating of petroleum jelly on your child’s brows. This will prevent the shampoo from getting into your baby’s eyes.
Still on babies, apply a small coating of Vaseline on your baby’s tush before putting on his diapers. This will help keep the moisture out and reduce the risk of the baby developing diaper rashes.
Household Applications
Vaseline is not only good for moisturizing your skin and lips; it is also great for a few household applications.
Stain Remover
Removing stains doesn’t have to be a drag anymore. Vaseline is excellent for removing lipstick marks on table napkins and clothes. Dab a small amount on the lipstick spot before putting the napkins and clothes in the washer.
The jelly will help loosen the spots and make them easier to remove in the wash.
Are there water spots on your wooden table? You had visitors over and their drinks left marks on your gorgeous table. Before the water spots set in, apply Vaseline petroleum jelly on the spots and leave to dry overnight.
The next morning, apply another coating of petroleum jelly and then wipe out with a dry cloth. Your wooden table will now be stain-free.
Found gum stuck on your wooden furniture? Rub it with Vaseline petroleum jelly until it totally disappears.
As Lubricant
For squeaky hinges on doors, windows and cabinets; apply a small amount of Vaseline on the hinges to prevent them from squeaking.
You can also dab screw threads with petroleum jelly before screwing them on to make it easier to remove them in the future.
For candle holders, apply a small amount on the inner lining to prevent candle wax from sticking to the surface. This will also make it easier to clear your candle holders of wax.
Other Uses for Vaseline
To make your leather shoes appear like new, you can softly rub them with a bit of petroleum jelly. Rub until the grease disappears.
You can also make your skates and skateboard wheels work smoothly by putting a bit of jelly on the cylinders of the wheels.
If you’ve ever found yourself having a hard time pulling out your refrigerator racks, coat the sides with a small amount of jelly to prevent them from sticking to the surface. This will make it easier for you to pull them out the next time you clean your fridge.
Vaseline petroleum jelly can also help lubricate bicycle chains, especially for bikes that you haven’t used in a while. Rub a generous amount on the sticky bicycle chain to make it run smoothly again.
There are many other uses for Vaseline, including as a lubricant for intimate moments.
Before using it on yourself, however, make sure that you are not allergic to its contents to prevent medical emergencies. Also, check if your baby is allergic prior to application to prevent rashes and other skin problems.
